Roger Anton, Advisor

“Leadership is hard work. I remember how much I valued the guidance I got along the way myself. But when I got to the superintendent’s chair in Salinas, help was hard to find,” recalls Roger Anton. Now, with more than a decade’s time at the top, and 23 years prior experience in Rialto and Salinas UHSD, he’s ready to guide others.

Anton has earned his stripes. In 2010, he won ACSA’s award for Superintendent of the Year in his region. He’s a lead auditor with Curriculum Management Systems, and a national trainer in Performance-Based Budgeting. He practiced what he preaches in Salinas Union HSD, and attributes that district’s academic focus and fiscal stability to that process.

"Assessment literacy is
as necessary at the top
of the organization as at the management and
staff levels."

He’s proud to help the Owl Corps brings its message to superintendents and boards. “Assessment literacy is as necessary at the top of the organization as at the management and staff levels.”

Roger received his B.A. in History from the University of California, Riverside and his M.A. in Education/History from California State University, San Bernardino. He is a certified trainer in the “Downey Walk-Through” process and has conducted trainings for more than 1200 administrators and teachers in California and from districts throughout the country. He is a trainer for “Deep Alignment” of curriculum, “50 Ways to Close the Achievement Gap” (a process for school improvement), Performance-Based Budgeting, and “Examining Student Work” (a process to examine student artifacts).
